RCG FSM UNDIP Strengthens Geothermal Research and International Publication

Geothermal research at RCG FSM UNDIP combines magnetic and microtremor surveys at Plantungan with workshops on international publication. Read the recap.

Geothermal research at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University, includes geophysical surveys and workshops under the World Class University program. RCG FSM UNDIP links field research with stronger scientific writing and international academic networks.

Geothermal Research at the Plantungan Hot Springs

The study took place in the Plantungan hot spring manifestation area in Central Java. The team combined magnetic and microtremor methods. The magnetic survey covered 148 measurement points across an area of about 48.4 square kilometers, while the microtremor measurements ran at 38 stations.

The team then integrated the data from both methods. This integration examines the subsurface structure that is thought to control hydrothermal fluid movement. Moreover, processing and modeling indicated a link between changes in rock physical properties, geological structures, and the appearance of hot springs. However, these findings still need further testing to strengthen the interpretation of the hydrothermal system.

Workshop and Online Session for International Publication

The team strengthened its publication capacity through a workshop with Professor Adi Darmawan from Diponegoro University. In addition, an online session followed with Professor Hakim Saibi from United Arab Emirates University.

The discussions covered research novelty, methodological accuracy, manuscript preparation, and journal selection. Participants also discussed responses to peer review, as well as chances for joint research and publication.

Next Steps for Geothermal Research at RCG FSM UNDIP

Field surveys at Plantungan and stronger publication skills go hand in hand in this program. These activities should improve manuscript quality, widen collaboration across institutions, and support geothermal research that respects the environment.

Therefore, the next steps focus on refining the analysis, writing scientific articles, and keeping up academic communication with international partners. In the end, this work supports the research quality of Diponegoro University.
